TIPS AND TRICKS I’VE LEARNED IN FRONT OF AND BEHIND BARS

  • To pour and layer shooters, fit your bottles with standard bar speed spouts. Control the flow of the liqueur by manipulating your forefinger over the spout. With your other hand, hold a maraschino cherry or a teaspoon and slowly pour over the cherry or the back of a teaspoon.
  • When layering shooters always pour lighter liqueurs over heavier, thicker ones.
  • Never drink anything that is lit and on fire. Drinks of this nature date back to the middle ages and are called “Flap Dragons”. They didn’t know any better back then, but we do now, so leave the fire-eating act to the circus people.
  • Current trends indicate a preference for shooters to be shaken rather than poured. Therefore, you may wish to pick up a bartender’s drink shaker and ice strainer.
  • Never force a shooter on anyone. “One man’s drink is another man’s poison.”
  • NEVER DRINK AND DRIVE
It’s far cheaper to hire a cab than a lawyer.

“I have made it a rule –
Never to drink by daylight, and never to refuse a drink after dark.”
